Through your faithful giving, our missions department has been reaching out to some of the most needed communities in the Dominican Republic.
In October 2021, we initiated a partnership with a local church to go and bring food relief to 2 bateyes in the cities of Higuey and La Romana. “Batey” is a term used to refer to a rural community of sugarcane workers in the Dominican Republic that are formed mostly by Haitian immigrants. These communities are not only in need of food, but they are also in desperate need of hearing the life-changing word of God.
Food outreaches are opportunities to share the Gospel, so we supported Pastor Humberto from Iglesia Cristiana Oasis and a group of 20 volunteers who go to the two cities with the groceries.
These volunteers gave people food and hope, making sure that everyone, young and old, will hear the message of Jesus. 235 families in Higuey and 160 families in La Romana received bags with rice, oil, oatmeal, chocolate, beans, flour, pasta, cans, and salt that alleviated their need and showed them that God cares and provides for them. Thank you, Times Square Church, for your faithful generosity that is touching these communities in the Dominican Republic.
