Pastor Tim has been leading TSC through his sermon series entitled “Because You Prayed,” teaching us about the power of prayer and how it can change our situation, our hearts, and our cities.
For nine weeks, we have heard powerful messages teaching us how to incorporate prayer into our daily lives, encouraging us to bring our problems— big and small— before the Lord, and reminding us that battles can only be won on our knees.
To end off the series, Pastor Tim sent out the congregation on prayer walks around the city, and TSC got the chance to host a 24-hour online prayer meeting. After our 1pm service on June 9, we had prayer warriors from all around the world commit to praying for their cities and neighborhoods.
We received stories of people praying for their communities and schools, people praying in their homes or at work as they were unable to walk, even people praying in over 100-degree heat! Some people saw miraculous salvations, and others noted that although they didn’t immediately see any effects, they believed in God’s power to change, deliver, and restore.
Here are some testimonies that were submitted to us:
Veronica from New York – “I walked alone throughout my neighborhood and got on a video call with one couple praying in Brooklyn and one brother praying in Jackson Heights. We each took turns to pray, and I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence as I walked. There was a knot in my throat and tears came down my face. I felt the need and the burden of my neighborhood. What an honor and privilege it is to intercede. I believe the Lord is going to do something amazing!”
Elizabeth from Texas – “[I walked] around the community I manage. It is a 100-apartment complex of HUD Affordable Housing Independent Living where we serve persons 62+ and persons younger than 62 with a disability. I walked the three floors and each hall praying for each resident and for their families that come to visit them.”
Brian from Online Prayer Meeting – “I was serving the 3-5 AM shift when Shandre came in, who has served at TSC NYC with us and now is in the UK again. My fellow prayer partner, Antoinette, currently lives in the UK and is from South Africa, which stunned Shandre since she is as well. They fellowshipped until other guests streamed in. One of the guests, Michelle from NY, after being prayed for, asked us if we needed prayer, and Antoinette said her hearing had been a problem. Her ears had been suffering and she’d been having a problem with ringing noises and diminished hearing. We prayed. A few days later, Antoinette emailed me to report her hearing had returned to normal!”
Ian from Online Prayer Meeting – “Not a story as such, but I just want to say it was probably more of a blessing and a humbling experience to me. People came with raw prayer requests and it was awesome to declare scripture and speak hope to them. Thank you for organizing!”
Let’s continue believing God for great and mighty things in NYC and around the world!
